Pilot Life Insurance | Life Insurance for Pilots
Are you paying more for your life insurance simply because you fly?
Life Insurance for Pilots has Special Challenges
Many life insurance companies will not offer their best rates simply due to a private pilot's certificate. Most agents do not have the experience to help pilots find the lowest prices with highly rated insurance companies.
As an example, some insurance companies will only offer a "standard" rate to a pilot, where they may offer a preferred rate to a non-pilot. Since we also fly, we find this to be unfair. After all, we are by nature a very careful group. How many non-pilots would understand to physically check the fuel level instead of simply relying on the gauge? Pilot life insurance is available from carrier's who do not hold your lifestyle in such ill regard.
Here's an example using a company known for having some of the lowest rates available would offer an annual premium of $615 for a 45 year old non-pilot for $500,000 of 20 year term. If that same person had a private pilot certificate and was IFR certified, the same policy would cost $1,010! If he only had a VFR rating add another $1,200 to the price!
