Financing Your Energy Efficient Project with a GreenSky® Loan
We are committed to ensuring that you understand your obligation to repay any funds loaned through the GreenSky® Program. Please review Frequently Asked Questions below and speak with your tax or financial advisor, county and utility before contracting for an energy efficient project.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What do I need to know about tax rebates and tax credits?
A. The GreenSky® Program is not responsible for obtaining rebates or tax credits related to your energy efficient home improvement project. We do not provide any advice, warrant or guarantee rebates or tax credits to consumers or merchants. Regardless of whether you independently apply for and receive a government rebate or tax credit related to your energy efficient home improvement project, you are responsible for repaying the full amount of your loan. Qualifications for and the awarding of tax credits or rebates vary significantly by state and county. Please consult with an authority in your county or state and a professional tax or financial advisor in your region about your eligibility to receive benefits under any applicable program. Your contractor or merchant cannot guarantee rebates or tax credits that you will earn on the project.
Q. What should I know about effectiveness, energy savings and net metering associated with my product?
A. The GreenSky® Program, including your lender, make no guarantees regarding the effectiveness of your energy efficient investment nor do we guarantee any energy savings as a result of your purchase. This means that regardless of whether your system provides you the energy savings, net metering, or the government buy back of energy discussed with you by your merchant, you are responsible for the full repayment of your loan. Consult with your utility, county, or other independent sources to be more informed about promises made by your contractor.
Q. Does GreenSky® back the guarantees and warranties made by my merchant?
A. No. Guarantees and warranties made by your merchant are the sole responsibility of your merchant and are not related to the GreenSky® Program. The GreenSky® Program and your lender make no warranties or guarantees related to your purchase or anything related to your home improvement project and cannot confirm that your merchant will fulfill its obligation related to your warranties.
Q. What happens if I don’t get my permits or connected to my utility?
A. The GreenSky® Program and your lender are not involved in the permitting or utility connection process. Connection to a utility can take several months in some areas. Your payments are due in accordance with your loan terms regardless of whether your system is completed, connected, or functioning at the time your payments become due. We encourage you to speak with your county, state and utility before contracting for an energy efficient project.
